“Colors for Spring 2022 bring together our competing desires for comforting familiarity and joyful adventure through a range of soothing and timeless colors, along with joyous hues that celebrate playfulness. As we enter this new landscape, one where fashion rules no longer apply, hues for Spring 2022 allow us to mix and marry as we please, encouraging the exploration of new chromatic realities, opening the door for personalized style and spontaneous color statements,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
This wonderfully summarizes my thoughts on self-expression through fashion and colors. I tend to steer towards calming neutrals or edgy black on black, but in typical contradictory fashion, I also love to play with stand-out hues or fun patterns. These yellow shimmer pants by Saks Potts are a glistening glitter dream. It’s giving disco Power Ranger, and I want them in all the colors.
Statement pants can definitely fit in to your day-to-day when toned down with a casual top and shoes. I like an oversized vintage tee, or loose-fitting button down, like this fluorescent linen top I thrifted. Throw on some sandals, flip flops or sneakers and you’re good to go. Keeping in line with the citrus color story, I opted for my emerald green Bottega mini ‘Jodie’ bag (in the aptly-named ‘Parakeet’ color), and tied it all together with the black quilted Chanel dad sandals and (old Céline) shades.
I’m not one to follow ‘trends’ but am finding comfort in seeing trend reports embracing and promoting the doing away with traditional ‘fashion rules.’ Wear what you want, even if it’s a lemon lime themed look in the middle of September with the fall season fast approaching.
