“Resist the mantra of speed that violently leads to losing oneself.” – Alessandro Michele, Creative Director Gucci
It’s been a pleasantly relaxing summer in Miami, albeit hot and humid. I’ve been in NYC a few times over the past couple of months and it’s also the same vibe. The season is perfect for slowing down, looking around and taking it all in. I feel like the retail hamster wheel, however, begs to differ as it churns out thousands of skin-baring garments and replicas of the hottest trends. I’ve been shopping less and less at fast-fashion chains such as Urban Outfitters and Zara (this is not to say I NEVER purchase anything there cuz that would be a bold-faced lie). Instead, I’ve been researching the more disruptive designers that spawn cool creations meant to last forever. Quality staple pieces that can be mixed and matched are essential and worth the higher price tag.
I was tapped by this beautiful brand with a great mission, called A Peace Treaty, to style this matching set from their Resort Collection. The brand designs out of NYC, is handmade globally, and prides itself as a champion for slow fashion and preservationist of centuries-old techniques. I’m also wearing Maryam Nassir Zadeh’s Olympia Wedges and a plastic tote by Saks Potts. Hope you like the pics Yesi and I shot this hot, slow, summer day in Little Havana, Miami. And don’t forget to follow me on Instagram. You’ll want to watch my Stories for daily updates and comedic relief!
